Nichole Regel Ruffatto, Certified Death Doula
Yoga Alliance RYS-200 Yoga Teacher Certified
As an end-of-life doula, also called a death doula, I offer compassionate, non-medical support to people who are dying and to those who love them. This support focuses on comfort, clarity, dignity, and presence during one of life’s most profound transitions.
Just as birth doulas support people at the beginning of life, death doulas walk alongside individuals and families at the end—helping them feel less alone, more prepared, and deeply supported.
End-of-life doulas do not replace medical care, hospice, or even the aid of a mental health therapist. Instead, in this role, I serve to complement these services by filling gaps and meeting human needs that often go unmet.
My support often includes:
Calm, compassionate presence
Deep listening without judgment or urgency
Space to talk about fears, memories, hopes, or unfinished business
Emotional and spiritual support
Creating a soothing, familiar environment
Guidance and education through the physical and emotional changes of dying
Support with legacy work, such as letters, recordings, or memory-making
Advocacy for comfort, dignity, and personal preferences
Aid in preparing final documents and ensuring final wishes are honored
Bedside companionship during the dying process
Every journey is unique. Support is always tailored to the individual, their beliefs, and what feels most meaningful to them.
